All sorts of crops are grown in the Palouse which is most famous for wheat. Peas, lentils, barley and Canola are also common. One of the least common and most spectacular for me are sunflowers. There is just something about coming upon a field that goes forever with sunflowers. This filed is located on the northern edge of the Palouse in Valleyford Washington just outside of Spokane. The sun was not being very cooperative on this day as it is beginning to set off to the right of this image. A large storm cell moved in blocking most of the last light of the day but just enough of the light came through to give some pastel color to the clouds. A side note, the field in the back ground was bright yellow only a few weeks earlier. It is a canola field. How amazing would it have been if both were in bloom at the same time.
I offer a variety of landscape, nature and wildlife images and fine art digital paintings. I also have many agricultural, farming and countryside images as well....
My photography focus is primarily nature and wildlife. I have a strong passion for the outdoors, capturing images that help preserve the numerous public lands and all that they offer. My travels take me all over the western united states to the common and not so common places. Many of my photos concentrate on the National Parks of Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Arches National Parks. Other areas of my travels include Moab Utah, Central Oregon, the Oregon coast and many areas around my home State of Washington. Take your time and enjoy my images.
