Description
Not only one of the most visited waterfall in Washington State but also one of the most impressive. Sometimes when there is unusualy warm temperatures combined with rain and snow, large amounts of runoff cause flooding on the Snoqualmie River. This heavy flow of the river intensifies the power of Snoqualmie Falls like it did on the day this image was taken. There are several viewpoints from the top. To get a more impressive view, a short walk leds to the base of the falls. When tthere is a heavy flow, a curtin effect is created by the falls.
Besides being a popular stop for visitors (1.5 million/year), Snoqualmie Falls and the Salish lodge that overlooks it were used in the 90's tv show Twin Peaks. The Falls is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
