Description
Not one of the more common crops that typically grass the rolling hills of the palouse but still found through out. On this particular evening, the weather forecasts were predicting storm cells that could produce rain and lightning. My first thought was to grab some dramatic cloudscapes over the farmland. Then maybe get a chance for a rainbow or lightning. As the sun set, the clouds filled with color. I was looking for a good composition as quickly as I could while traveling the back roads of the Palouse. I knew I didn't have much time. I could see the lightning in the distance and the dark clouds were rolling in. I came up on this field of hay that was partially baled. I loved the lines of the downed hay creating a pattern. There was still enough light from the sunset to give the scene a surreal feel. As the lightning came I just kept shooting in hopes of capturing some in this already dramatic scene. While I a version in color I personally think the black and white is more dramatic and has more details and textures.
I offer a variety of landscape, nature and wildlife images and fine art digital paintings. I also have many agricultural, farming and countryside images as well. Most of my work is from around the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, British Columbia, and Alberta. Please look through my galleries or visit my website to view my full portfolio.
